Clipse (feat. Cam'ron)
Back By Popular Demand

The strange part of this song isn't that the beat is different, but that it's so orthodox. This beat really could be for any rapper out there, which isn't what Clipse usually go for. I mean, it's nice to have Pharrell working on good beats for a change of pace, so I'm not going to complain. But did Cam'ron demand something normal to work on? (Speaking of which, what the hell is Cam'ron doing on a Clipse track? That would be like Tom Cruise guest appearing in a Ben Stiller or Jack Black movie. Aw damn it.)
I sure hope this isn't a pattern to Till The Casket Drops, the duo's third studio album. I mean, the song isn't bad so I can't get too angry, but it is probably the most cookie-cutter song I've heard them release. It'll work fine if it's an anomoly on an otherwise inventive album, but if this is what the whole album is like then Clipse may be making a bad decision not releasing Till The Casket Drops in 2010 so that they can say they went the first decade of the Millennium without a bad album.
But it's Clipse. They're kinda great. Let's not dismiss them for one mostly mediocre track.
