My Name is Josh
By Josh B.
I just want to introduce myself before I start posting reviews and opinions about Hip-Hop Music/Culture/ETC. I am not a journalist. This is the only blog I participate on. I have no credentials as a critic what so ever. But I love Hip-Hop and I consider myself a part of the Hip-Hop Generation.
I was born in 1983. The same year that Run-DMC released “It’s Like That”. The same year Charlie Ahearn Directed “Wild Style”. I literally grew up at the same time that Hip-Hop did. I remember Yo! MTV raps. I remember Break dancing in McDonald’s commercials. I remember playing Monkey Bar Basketball listening to “Jump” by Kriss Kross in the third grade. Don’t act like you don’t know the lyrics to that song either. With that said I have to say that I love all kinds of Hip-Hop. From the early 80’s Electro, Golden Age (My Favorite), G-Funk, Modern Mainstream, Underground, Backpacker, Hipster, it goes on. But don’t get it wrong either. There is still some sub par stuff out there too.
I grew up in the Suburbs of DC in Northern VA. It is not a hot bed for Hip-Hop music but it is still pretty important. From its influence on Go-Go, to the assorted True School artistes that call this area home, do not underestimate the DMV’s (DC, Maryland, Virginia) local scene.
I hope that this blog is able to give a few different points of view on the Music that we love so much. Like I said earlier I love Hip-Hop but I am not a critic what I say is only opinion and I hope to not be grouped with the other hater bloggers, I just want to be honest.
Thanks.
